message, About Us: |
- Kona
Computer Techs opened it's doors Feb. 1, 2004.
- It
was Cosmo's dream (owner) to provide a brand new heightened
level of computer support for residents and businesses in
Kona.
- Talk
heard around town: people were tired of dropping off &
picking up their computers at repair centers, tired of paying
money to continually have the same problems, and wanted
a much higher level of computer and network support.
- Residences
& Businesses were pleading for an alternative to the
local "turn & burn" repair centers so that
their computers would be fixed properly, asking for their
needs to be met in data backup & disaster recovery plans,
wishing for monthly visits for continued smooth sailing,
and visits from highly technical - yet friendly service
people.

- Cosmo
Bowden, Sr. Computer Engineer
|
-
A 35+ year resident of Hawaii, a true Kamaaina, with over
28 years in Kailua-Kona, this local haole boy grew up with
the Hawaiian people, and went to many island schools starting
in Maui in 1969. Moving to the big island a couple years
later, Cosmo attended schools in Volcano, Mt. View, being
perhaps the only haole to attend Keaukaha school, and finishing
up at Kona Waena High School.

Having a strong work ethic, Cosmo learned immaculate customer
service skills from a job lasting over 9 years at a 5 Diamond
Resort: Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. Growing up with computers
as family, Cosmo started with CMD PET PC's, and Commodore
64's, then persisted with a long history working in Operating
Systems from DOS/Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, XP,
and Server 2000/2003.
- While
living in California (1995-2003) a great number of real
world computer & network skills were developed from
climbing the ladder starting with a Jr. Help Desk support
role at Maxis, Inc., and working up through the years to
a Sr. Level Technical Support Specialist with Monsanto/Solaris/Ortho
Roundup.

Finally culminating in a Sr. Network and Computer Specialist
role at Wirestone, LLC. Cosmo was head of the IT department,
managed people in several job roles, built a corporate NT
4.0 LAN Server with 12 Workstations for the local office
in Emeryville and a WAN Citrix Server that was the backbone
of operations for 6 other interconnected corporate offices
located throughout the United States.
- Real
world technical skills span the entire technology realm,
from custom building the worlds fastest computers: high-end
PC's with 15,000 rpm SCSI hard drives, and Voodoo 5 video
cards, to high-end corporate servers, client-server &
peer-to-peer network Topologies, E-mail servers, website
servers, ftp & file servers, database administration,
programming in various languages such as BASIC, C, PERL,
and PHP, to completing large website projects (from concept
on paper to completion) with special recent focus directed
at customizing & securing Windows computers to the point
of creating "Fort Knox" type fortifications!

- Tom
Testagrossa, Sr. Technician
|
- Although
not a life long island resident, Tom does however know how
to spread the Aloha Spirit! We brought Tom onboard, not
only because of his impressive background of 20+ years in
various computer positions and capacities, but also because
he has a very professional client side manner. Always on
time, always with a smile!
- Trained
in the USAF - Computer Hardware Repair.

Worked in Silicon Valley for Intersil, Inc - Electronic
Technician on the manufacturing floor.
- New
England, 15 years in design engineering at Digital Equipment
Corp - Engineering Project Technician and Engineering Support
Tech.
-
Spent the next few years as an IT Consultant to various
Companies during the "dot com" boom and bust years.
-
Moved to Hawaii and joined forces with Kona computer Techs.
- He
also developed the backbone of two new "key" services
that Kona Techs now offers today: 3-D Virtual Tours, and
Disaster Recovery Solutions using a Computer Snapshot technology
which provides a way to capture an image of an entire computer
to an external hard disk. In the event of a complete PC
failure, the computer can be re-snapped from the external
hard disk image in a matter of minutes, avoiding having
to purchase a brand new replacement PC or having to rebuild
a PC, which can typically take 6-8 hours to complete!
- Tom
is an equal to Cosmo in many respects, and their overlapping
skills in differing technologies provides a wonderful synergy!

- Trish
Hines, Sr. Sales & Office Assistant
|
- Our
wonderful office assistant, phone support, and database
manager - Trish also has a major role of being our most
outstanding sales person. She has a magnificent feel for
technology, and keeps it warm & simple. She is a real
"people person". New & existing customers
tend to relate to her smooth manner and demeanor, spiced
with a professional yet non-intrusive soft sales approach!

Having brought us some of our biggest and best clients,
we hope Trish stays with us forever as it would be very
hard to ever replace such a golden nugget!
- Trish
has a long history of working in various sales capacities
for some of the top paper products & office supply companies
in California, such as Kelly Paper & Office Max, and
would have made "sales woman of the year" for
a technology products company she worked for in San Ramon
if she hadn't come to work for us. That year Trish outsold
all other sales people on that companies #1 product, which
was a handheld, laser-detection temperature gauge.

- Katie,
Jr. Sales & Advertising Distributor

- Helping
to advertise both our company, and services we offer, Katie
has helped with the phones, faxing, and has helped coordinate
the distribution of close to a thousand flyers throughout
Kona. If you have one of our flyers, it probably came from
her team!
- We
are currently seeking another Sr. Level Technician this
year, as we are continuing to experience tremendous growth.
- Although
Kona Computer Techs has only been in business for 2 years,
we have experienced over 300% growth each year.
